Each of you makes a difference in making the state of California stronger and better each day by your dedication and hard work.

Today, I'm asking you to make a difference for life. I invite you to join me in participating in the Workplace Partnership for Life, a nationwide network of employers dedicated to saving lives by recruiting potential organ, tissue, marrow and blood donors. It's all part of the national Gift of Life Donation Initiative created by former Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson. The Workplace Partnership for Life is about giving life and I urge you to join me in the effort.

Right now, more than 93,000 people in the United States wait for a life-saving organ transplant. The sad fact is, one third will die waiting because of the critical shortage of donors.

But, you can make a difference.
